Which AI models are free to use right now?

Free API access exists on OpenRouter (:free variants such as Nemotron, Gemma 4 and others), the Gemini API free tier (Gemini Flash / Flash-Lite and Gemma models), Groq (gpt-oss-120b, gpt-oss-20b, Qwen3.8-27B), Cloudflare Workers AI (10,000 Neurons a day), Zhipu (GLM-4.7-Flash and other -Flash models), Baidu Qianfan (ERNIE Speed / Lite / Tiny), iFlytek Spark Lite and selected SiliconFlow models. Open-weight models such as DeepSeek V4, Qwen, Kimi, GLM, Llama, Gemma and gpt-oss are free to download and run yourself.

Is DeepSeek V4 Flash free?

The weights are free: DeepSeek-V4-Flash (284B total / 13B active, 1M context) is open-sourced under the MIT licence on Hugging Face and ModelScope. The official DeepSeek API is paid – V4 Flash has been retired there and the legacy name routes to V4.1 Flash. DeepSeek's web chat and app are free to use. A free API version was offered for a limited time by OpenCode Zen, but that promotion has ended, and OpenRouter has no :free DeepSeek V4 Flash.

What are the limits of OpenRouter free models?

OpenRouter :free models are limited to 20 requests per minute and 50 requests per day; accounts that have bought at least 10 credits get 1,000 free requests per day. Free variants can be removed or given an expiry date at any time.

Do free AI APIs use my data for training?

Some do. Google says content sent on the Gemini API free tier may be used to improve its products. Each entry here records the data-use policy when the provider publishes it – avoid sending sensitive data to free tiers.

How often is this list updated?

A script re-checks the OpenRouter models API, Hugging Face model pages and every source link, and marks promotions as expired after their end date. Each model shows the date it was last verified.
