Autoencoder

Compress the input to a short code and reconstruct it, learning a compact representation.

自编码器 2006 Foundational core

IN PLAIN WORDS

An encoder squeezes the input into a low-dimensional code and a decoder reconstructs it; training just minimizes reconstruction error, so the bottleneck keeps only what matters. Think of it as nonlinear PCA – and the ancestor of VAEs, MAE and the latent space of Stable Diffusion.
