// How-to · Use AI compliantly in mainland China
Using LLMs compliantly in mainland China
There are two main compliant paths: platforms and models that completed the required filing and serve users in China, or open-weight models deployed in your own environment. We have not tested access from mainland China in this release.

Scenario: Use AI compliantly in mainland China →
Symptoms
- Overseas model services say the region is unsupported or ban the account
- A company must keep data inside the country
Common causes
- The product does not serve that region
- Overseas services are reached through shared accounts or unknown relays, risking bans and data leaks
How to fix
- If you provide generative AI services to users in China, follow the filing information published by the Cyberspace Administration of China (official releases are authoritative)
- Use model platforms that serve mainland China, such as Alibaba Cloud Model Studio (Bailian) or Volcengine Ark, following their official docs
- With strict data requirements, deploy licence-permitting open-weight models on your own servers with vLLM, Ollama and similar
- Many Chinese models offer OpenAI- or Anthropic-compatible APIs that work with common developer tools (see the “Switch models” scenario)
- Do not use account sharing, resold accounts or grey-market relays
